I know how difficult it is letting your child out of your sight when they have life threatening allergies or asthma. It's hard not to be a helicopter parent knowing that a simple food can cause a life threatening allergic reaction. Sooner or later though, we all have to take that step and allow them to grow into their own person without us always hovering. Life must go on despite their severe allergies and despite our own fear and anxiety.
As every allergy mum and dad knows though, we don't take situations like starting day care, preschool or big school, lightly. There is always the necessary preparations and practical steps taken to ensure they are kept safe. I've listed some great resources here that will help to bring some awareness to your child's allergy when they are too young or shy to speak up for themselves....

Pouches and cases for auto injectors and asthma medication
Auto-Injector Holder / Medical Pouches for Epipen, Anapen, Twinject, Asthma Medication
We own this red epipen case which is kept in the school office, along with the anaphylaxis action plan and my business card for easy contact.
We also have the racing car case (modelled by handsome son) which is kept hanging up beside his anaphylaxis action plan in his class room. They are good quality and last for ages. We've had ours for 2 years and not ready to replace yet.
My boy wears a smaller one (not pictured) around his waist during the day. I might be over the top, but I would rather be that way than have them not be able to locate one if he needs it.
